Hi. Brand new on here and 10 days post husband's heart attack and stent and he's doing very well.
We're getting to grips with the drugs routine but are somewhat alarmed to discover, despite not having used it, that the GTN Spray is less than half full. Is this usual? Does it evaporate this quickly normally or is it the current hotter weather or how we are storing it?
Thanks.

Hi. These sprays are only half filled .I used to wonder about this too, I'm not sure why but any I've had prescribed have been like this .So it's not your storing of it .Hope this helps.
Just wondering - is he using GTN spray regularly? An alternative is isosorbide mononitrate taken as a daily tablet to prevent angina.
My other thought is that most people seem not to need treatment for angina post stents/bypass unless there are other issues. I am sure someone will let me know if I am wrong on this.
As has been said in other replies, these devices are only half filled. Its to do with the vapour pressure of the propellant that is used in the can which provides the pressure to 'drive' the aerosol. So, rest assured, it is 'normal'.
as its a spray some of teh contents will be gas propellant which means less room for teh actual 'stuff'
I have to say that in teh 7 months since my stent and HA I have not used a spray at all.
But tehn we are all different. Hope Hubby gets well soon. Make sure he goes to rehab, if you can, which is an excellent way of recovering and the staff there are fabulous.
With the recent hot weather,I am a bit concerned about my GTN spray as it has been in the caravan whilst on holiday and has exceeded the storage temp.which says 25degs,at times in France the outside temp was 38 degs and inside caravan temp exceeded 45degs when closed up.Does it mean that the spray will be no good and should I get it replaced?
The absolute maximum temperature a GTN spray should reach is 50C. I am not sure what this does to the GTN but the propellant is flammable and an exploding can could start a fire if there is a source of ignition! People mainly carry their GTN spray with them and I am sure you don't sit inside the caravan at 45C. I would check with your pharmacist as to the effect on shelf life.
Hi Sooz, plenty of advice on here about the GTN Contents. People are advised to carry it on a "just in case" basis although most never use it again after stents, bypass, etc.
