Tightness at front of neck

Hi,I'm new here. In January I was diagnosed with angina and in March had 2 stents fitted. I'm doing ok but I get a tightness at the front of my neck, does anyone else get this? My GP doesn't have an explanation or thinks it has anything to do with my angina.

Hi can I ask how long it lasts and does it go away on its own or do you have to sit down or use your GTN spray. The tightness under neck was the first sign I had of angina the second was an intense ache mid chest which sent me off GP then down the road of tests and angiogram . Yours maybe something entirely different so don't want you to worry but I would contact your cardiologist explain what your feeling and hopefully he can put your mind to rest. Always best to check . Let us know how you get on. Best wishes X

Hi, thanks for replying. The tightness last 3 to 4 minutes, the GTN spray helps but doesn't take it away. I will go back and see my GP.

Hi there - it's possible it's angina. A good way to test this is whether or not using your GTN spray resolves the tightness. If it does, it's likely to be angina and a change in your medications might be needed. If not, your doctor will need to look into some other tests that might help to figure out what's happening.

Hope this helps,

Chris

Thanks for replying Chris. The GTN spray helps but doesn't take the tightness away completely. I will go back and see my GP.

Great - and if they're not sure then they can always contact your cardiologist for their advice too
