I posted here over the last six months about not getting follow up appointment which was in the care plan. Finally got an appointment after continually ringing the consultant's secretary and the clinic coordinator. I rang regularly for over two months and was told I would perhaps get an appointment in October. It was due last March. Everyone told me situation dire so I said I would take a cancellation and waited and waited.... was rung last week and had an appointment with registrar (consultant on holiday) Monday, phone rang yesterday and i was offered echocardiogram for 7 p.m tonight - the registrar had said to me it would be in a couple of weeks time...... have had the echocardiogram done and now will wait for the results. When the NHS gets it right it is outstanding. It seems so ungrateful to moan but emergency treatment was wonderful but the followup is woeful. I think that i was only seen because of persistence and I found it very stressful.

I see your point. We are one of thousands which we all understand. Yet we are the mist important when it comes to friends/family who care about us. There is only so long you can be kept in Limbo before you want answers. Hopefully we will both get to the bottom of our wonky hearts.....
I do agree with you about lack of aftercare.
I was due a follow up after three months, when I rang the secretary I was told they were running up to nine months behind!!. I was then told I could see the consultant privately, I made the payment and saw him the following week. I know I paid but it did put my mind at rest.
I paid privately in the January to see the consultant and, like you, it was worth it as it put my mind at rest. However, I also need an annual review and scan because of an aneurysm and bicuspid valve - it was this measurement scan and review to see if things are deteriorating that was the thing I was chasing. I was assured it was normal follow up and would happen automatically. It didn't and the whole thing is supposed to happen annually .... Shall I start chasing for August 2020 just after Christmas to give myself a head start?!!!
