Just had my first cardiac event. Stent to LAD in early hours of the morning (2am 5th Aug).

So still only just starting the journey of understanding and coming to terms with what this might mean for me.

Not how I was hoping to start retirement!

You`ve come to the right place! You`ll find help and support and friendship on this site. It`s still early days to be coming to terms with your condition but I`m sure you will and I hope you have a very active and happy retirement.

Thank you for the welcome.

Home now, and have to say feeling good.

Wondering if a sense ‘euphoria’ is normal?

Just enjoying the ‘feeling good’ for now.

I had a strong sense of euphoria. But sad to say that went (hope yours doesn’t). My body took a while to get used to the meds and the immenseness of a HA dawned on me a little later. In fact it still takes me by surprise. But I got over it in the end. Here’s hoping you’ll stay feeling great.

Hi Christina,

I had central chest pain and difficulty breathing. Ended up having primary angioplasty with a stent to LAD. Recovery so far has been good. Hospital Care was amazing. Cannot fault the team. Discharged this last Wednesday and already have my appointment for the initial cardiac rehab assessment.

Beta blockers and ACE certainty seem to be helping me currently.

Thank you for the well wishes.

Much appreciated.

All still a bit of a roller coaster.

Hi there. Thanks had a heart attack and subsequent stent to LAD in 2016 aged 55. Bit of a rocky road but 2.5 years later feel great. It’s tough getting your head around things but I take the meds, eat better, do more exercise and try not to stress out about little things. Overall I feel better now than I have for years (when I was ill but didn’t know it). When cardio rehab comes along take it and make the changes you need to make. You’ll be great and have a brilliant retirement.

Thank you for the encouragement.

I’m sure there will be lots of ups & downs. Definitely intend to take up the offer of cardio rehab.

I can understand the feeling better, apart from the current up beat mood, I feel physically better than I have done for over a year.

Hi Jjkrn. Don’t do too much too soon. I overdid the walking in the heat a few weeks ago. You’ll be on an emotional rollercoaster for a while but just go with it. Cardiac rehabilitation is brilliant for the exercise, advice and camaraderie. I found it a great help.

Thank you.

Yes, it can be easy to forget your limits, and these desire to get back to ‘normal’
