I dislike it when people say "You look well!" as I feel it tempts providence. Somebody said this to me on Saturday and to be honest I was feeling good. Because of hip and lower back problems my daily steps is around 6,000. I got just short of 7,000 a couple of months ago and decided to try and break it on Sunday. Started well but it then became very muggy and it the end I gave up. Yesterday it again started quite fresh and I went to do some cardio. Again it had turned muggy and I got so tired I could not complete my usual circuit. Afterwards my stomach felt rather upset and I was up through the night. I now feel totally exhausted so am going back to bed. Had a few things planned but it is probably best not to push it!
Duvet Day: I dislike it when people say... - British Heart Fou...
Duvet Day
Hi MichaelJH
I’m sorry to hear you’re not feeling your usual self today. I know what you mean regarding having an ‘off day’ some days you just have to listen to your body and take it easy. Take care
I stop this happening by getting in first - immediately say the next person who tells me I look well will get a fat lip..... but there again I have no manners. Sorry to hear you are under par but the muggy weather has really got to me too. Cardio class I was struggling and felt like i was breathing soupy air. Not going so far on walks and, strangely, have the upset stomach you describe too. Take care.
Maybe there is a bug of some sort going around.
I have a friend who walks with me who is a biologist - he has a theory (poor person has watched me retch more times than I care to remember on our walks) that digestion takes a lot of energy so when I over do it and the body needs more energy to keep the heart pumping it gets rid of undigested food to concentrate on the main organ.... well it gives us something to talk about as we slowly retrace our footsteps anyway!
Definitely don't push it, hope your feeling better soon and totally get the issue with hidden illnesses. On a lighter note (I hope!) one of our neighbours is a funeral director, whenever we see him the first thing he says to Kevin is "how are you feeling" always makes us feel he's mentally sizing him up! 😱. Puts us in mind of the funeral director in allo allo! 😂
6,000-7,000 steps a day isn't too bad Michael, especially for someone with back problems. I think you should feel pretty satisfied with your performance.
Michael
Everyone is allowed a duvet day.
I am not a big fan of the comment
' my you look so well!'
I hope you feel better soon and get back to being Chief Entertainments Officer of the forum.....ooophs I forgot Gunsmoke is Banter Meister.
I 'll let you 2 sort it out.
Anybody up for Mud wrestling?
sorry your not at your best michael. quite right listen to your body.if your looking for a good box set to get into manifest is very good. a wee fruit tart will provide the soul food. 🤣feel better soon my friend ❤️
Sorry to hear that MichaelJH although duvet day sounds good. I thought I was doing well so went to London for the weekend last week. Saturday did 13,250 steps, Sunday 10,000! Stupid stupid stupid thing to do I know. Legs swelled up so been put on Frusemide and been having blood tests and ECG since. Been told I have to go for another echocardiogram. Trouble is if you’re used to being on the go all the time winding down is difficult. Take care and use a very thin duvet it’s too hot 🥵.
🤣a fruit tart cures all
Love Island, tiswas!!! I'm a celebrity get me out of here????
Fish and chips with mushy peas and a cup of tea for me.
That muggy weather has a lot to answer for! Who knows maybe you just overdid it or the mugginess encouraged the bugs to attack!
Either way I am sending virtual chicken soup. ( Hope you’re not vegetarian!) Take care
My late mother used to do an excellent chicken soup. It was on the menu in an European restaurant a few years ago and decided to give it a try. They brought "pork and cabbage" soup! I did eat it - was OK - as I hate it when people end up on different courses.
When I was in Cairns 17 years ago I was told the heat and humidity caused a higher rate of infection than many other areas of Australia.
One of my multiple heart conditions is recurrent pericarditis - I keep a hygrometer in every room and on the outside of the living room window - if the humidity rises to 70 or more % I know it's an indoors day with the fans and dehumidifiers going, and the exercise bike and resistance bands for some exercise.
Not at all surprised to hear about Cairns - my recurrent pericarditis developed from a first bout whilst living in Guatemala City, then living in the US Deep South until retiring home to the UK (NE Scotland, talk about yer humid!). Hot and humid is not a nice combination for heart patients, humid even when cooler seems to make things difficult as well.
Hope you're feeling better soon!
Hi Michael
Hope you have fully recovered much cooler this morning down in Dorset.
I am now wondering if things were made worse by being refused antibiotic prophylaxis for dental treatment and the ending up on a weeks course of antibiotics. Had a low fat youghurt for breakfast in case gut bacteria in a bad way.
