Yes it was very warm yesterday and travelled home on the bus Michael. It was sweltering despite air conditioning and windows open. Today going to be hot again. My German family is experiencing extreme heatwave now and praying my brother Karsten, had quadruple by pass, my paralyzed sister and my dad, 87, and his wife, will cope in this extreme heat!!! I felt exhausted after 4pm, as had a very hectic day.
Lots of fluids and eat light is the motto for me. Avoid to go outside or stay in the shade where possible. I used to do this before my heart attack, as I tend to get sunburned. So going on the bus to work and back is going to be a challenge in this weather.
I'm in NE Scotland and our forecast is not as dire as 'down south' but by 8am this morning, for our area it was already uncomfortably warm today and predicted to be, like the rest of the UK, the hottest day of the year (so far). We're leaving the house in an hour to spend the day finding air conditioned relief at the shopping mall, museums, and (don't laugh) the ice skating rink.
This was coming.
This includes Scotland/Scottish Highland.
It hit some poorer nations in the globe first and nobody cared.
Asia...the land of hard working people with few complaints, just tolerated despite the annual temp hikes.
Then it came to USA or Europe. . .
Signs were all there even 10-15 years ago.
when I was younger, the lawn never completely died in summer.
However, for those with Raynaud's, I cannot complain!
Autumn starts in a month here. . . Better than being cold. . .
I ended up waiting 2 hours yesterday at my GP’s - the nurse there said there’d been 3 walk-in ecg’s and one proper emergency (defib on hand). I felt pretty crappy sat waiting but they kindly let me sit in an empty consultation room with a fan on me.
Was going to catch bus to do a small shop but decided against it when a news report said that temperatures of 43 - 47 had been reported on some buses (I feel for the drivers). I walked to a corner shop and lingered in the air conditioned cool. Sadly I could not take some home.
Walking up the (admittedly big, stealth boast! 😊) garden to take Mr Silly a sandwich was enough for me to feel out of breath! The last 2 days I’ve seen a new thing - our poor chickens are panting!
