Warfarin

I was put on Warfarin when I had my first post-op checkup a week after being discharged from hospital after 2 valve repairs. I was in AF and was put on Bisoprolol 1.25mg and referred to the local Anticoagulant clinic. I was told I was in grave danger of having a stroke! I saw the heart consultant a month ago and had an ECG & Chest Xray and he was happy with my results. He said he would write to my GP asking him to arrange an ECG and if it was clear I could come off the Warfarin, well Friday afternoon the nurse did my ECG at the surgery, she referred it to one of the GPs and YIPPEEEE I was told I didn't need to take any more Warfarin WOW. The clinic has been unable to regulate my INR levels they've been going up and down all over the place and haven't been right since I started so it is with the utmost pleasure I do not need to go and have my finger pricked and a wee drop blood placed on a strip in a machine which gives a reading and takes all of 5 minutes but costs £1.90 to park at the local hospital!! I'm not mean but it is very inconvenient as I have previous arrangements on Wednesday afternoons and that's the only time they have a clinic!

Great news about the Warfarin - and I commiserate re parking charges! I was offered two locations for the Rapid Access Chest Pain unit and chose the one with no charge parking...turned out to be the best choice I've made since my multiple heart conditions played over spring, the cardiologist I was assigned to is one of the best in Tayside. He sent me to the charge-for-parking hospital for some more tests and when the techs saw his name on my records I seemed to get a bit more attention than I'd got before. All down to choosing free parking, who'da'thunk it?!

I just discovered 3 weeks ago that there was a morning clinic at a large medical centre in town where if you have a blue badge you get free parking, I just had one appointment last Wednesday morning I just wish I'd known about it at the start!!
