Any one else on Ranolazine care to share experiences?

I’m 58, post HA, 4 stents, diagnosed as probable MVA. Angina pain is a big problem, as is tiredness etc. On slow release nitrates, Bisoprolol, Ticagrelor, aspirin, and Atorvastatin 80.

Now on 500 Ranolazine with an option to up it further, but will it increase tiredness etc.

And no, before anyone suggests, not interested in plant based or high fat (Coeliac plus...) but do stick to low fat Mediterranean etc.

They did, tried 2x10 isosorbide mononitrate, then 2x20 but highs and lows through the day were too much, now on same (1x40)but slow release. It’s better than it was now, and I do have more energy than before, but also still got pain need to sleep etc. Will increasing the Ranolazine reduce pain at the expense of more tiredness etc?

I took Ranolazine many years ago before my angiogram with acetylcholine showed that I have spasms in my microvessels and coronary arteries.

I had to stop because it increased my angina episodes and I had lots of palpitations.

Ranolazine seems to work well for some people or not at all for others.

Beta blockers need to be used with caution with patients with vasospastic angina it can make the spasms worse.

I suggest you discuss this possibility with your Cardiologist as there are alternative medications that you can be prescribed.

It is definitely trial and error to find the right combination of medication that works best for you.

I hope you have less pain in your life soon.

Thanks Milkfairy. My GP is prescribing this after talking to a different Cardiologist who is now taking me over, but can’t see him until August. Old one was happy to diagnose MVA, but new one is a specialist in it.

Don’t know. I’m in Dorset. First cardio was quick to diagnose MVA without further tests as he ‘was expecting it’. GP suspects there may be more to it, hence the current plan. I’m impressed with them all tbh (and I live half a mile from the hospital😀).
