Reduced amlodipine dose

My doctor has reduced my amlodipine dose. How long before my blood pressure will start to climb?

Noone can tell you this. You will have to wait and keep an eye on it. It would be sensible to have a blood pressure monitor and take readings.

I agree with other comments, if you can get a blood pressure monitor at home you can keep an eye on it, you need to take readings when you have been resting for about ten mins, if your blood pressure is going up or you feel unwell go straight back to your gp x

I was taken off it completely just over a couple of weeks ago after approx 4 months of taking them because the area around my eyes(eyelids etc) were sore and very irritated despite applying a recommended cream. The G.P. said that these tablets were for my blood pressure in approx. 30 years time and that as I am now 70 years old that this would not be an issue at this point in time. (Cannot disagree.)

The G.P. prescribed a different cream and within 24 hours my eyes started to improve and are now fine. I am still applying the cream. I am keeping an eye on my blood pressure and will go back to the G.P. shortly and have him take the blood pressure again and compare it to the original check. This should tell if I have been adversely affected. Its trial and error I guess.

Of course I am taking other tablets (3) to help to manage my condition - quadruple bye pass 4 and a half months ago.

I started out on bisoprolol 3 years ago but it made me feel dozy, strange and breathless so it was reduced to 3.25mg and Amlodipine 5mg added. That’s been fine.

Recently my candesartan has been changed to losartan as my BP was way too low and I had low sodium.

I think it’s a matter of regularly reviewing and balancing what you need.

Your blood pressure can change even if you’re not on tablets.

I have a bp wrist monitor. Cheap and cheerful but I monitored it with the surgery one and readings were the same.
