Amlodipine

Hi all. I've been on Amlodipine 5mg since 13th January. First time on any BP meds. Its doing a good job of keeping my BP at normal levels and my BPM are also at normal levels. However, I keep feeling a bit lightheaded from time to time throughout the day. Doesn't seem to be any particular triggers. Has anyone else on Amlodipine had a similar experience? I didn't experience anything like this before starting Amlodipine.

I had the same problem, my GP changed my meds from Amlodipine to Ramipril and that sorted it out. Suggest you discuss with your pharmacist and GP

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately ACE inhibitors didn't agree with me at all so was put on Amlodipine instead as a CCB. I will have to speak to my GP.

All I remember from it is that my feet and ankles used to swell so badly I couldn’t get my shoes and socks on.

Thanks for your reply. Fortunately I haven't suffered any other side effects other than these odd occasions of light-headedness.

Amlodipine certainly didn't agree with me and I still have the problem with the reaction to the tablets I had leg ulcers after 2 days on them. Obviously the skin in the area is very thin and keeps breaking out with water blisters now. All tablets don't suit everyone. But there's plenty of others you can go onto. Brian

My husband is on the same medication, and he experiences some dizzines throughout the day. The doctor changed his Ramipril to Amplodomine .

Hello, have you tried taking it in the evening? I take same dose and I get dizzy if I turn my head too quickly. It's much better since taking tablet at night.

Thanks for your reply. Were you getting dizzy shortly after taking your tablet only or was it at any time during the day? I used to take it at night but changed to morning just so I'm taking all my meds at the same time. I don't actually get dizzy it's just a feeling of light headedness.

Have you checked your BP when you have been light headed? Of course it might not be the tablets so as a few suggested have a chat with GP or BHF. Good luck...it will get sorted out.

Thanks again. Yes BP is consistently normal. I do plan to speak to my GP asap.
