Depression and anxiety

A lot of you will know that I have been going through difficult time as heart failure patient caring for a more infirm heart failure patient. I have been struggling. When I went for my rehab assessment I was offered counselling which I felt I didn't need but the nurses explained that the service adjusts to needs so if I just need to talk they will put me with the right person. I have my first appointment in 4 weeks for one hour! A whole hour with someone listening!!!! I didn't know it was available and maybe others don't too. It may make all the difference. I'll let you know.

My husband was offered counselling but he turned it down. I wish he'd taken advantage of it, he doesn't even like acknowledging his heart failure!!

It wasn't easy for me but I know it will help to be able to express myself to someone who won't be affected by my stress. My husband turned it down and even though he has completed end of life forms is still in denial and won't talk about it so I know what that is like.

Oh I hope you find it useful. Knowing there is s specific time for you, a hour just to talk, your space, will be great.

Hi. Sorry to hear you are going through a rough time. Pleased you have an appointment. I found counselling really helped me to deal with all the stuff going round in my head. I was allocated 6 sessions and took up all of them. I am sure you will find it helpful to be able to focus on you for a protected period of time. Really important to have ‘me’ time to help to relax. Take care of yourself sending positive thoughts and lots of hugs. Zena x
