Use this heartuk.org.uk/cholesterol/...

If you still have any doubts talk it throught with the BHF Heart Helpline nurse.

I am no expert but when I joined this forum I was overweight, pre diabetic with raised BP and cholesterol.

The figures I was given was Total Cholesterol below 5 (or 4 if heart history or diabetic) with an HDL of 1.1 or higher and an LDL of 3.0 or lower. Your numbers are skewed the wrong way. My numbers are all fine now although I do have to take an ACE and a statin.

One piece of advice I was given here was to adopt a Mediterranean diet and it does seem.to work as my BMI is now below 25 and I am no longer pre-diabetic.

Foods that help lower LDL and raise HDL include virgin olive oil, oily fish, avocados and walnuts.

In answer to your question I am no certainly expert but the test results you have provided look very unusual to say the least, which is perhaps what @Heythrop51 had in mind. Total cholesterol of 1.2 is exceptionally low in my non expert opinion, readings of above about 2.5 are the norm as far as I am aware. There is an anomaly regarding the LDL result of 0.1, again you would expect the reading to be above about 1.5. And finally your HDL at 0.7 looks low but may be right. And on the strength of all that I am surprised your GP has said no further action. If I had been your GP I would have been asking for a confirmatory check on your results given above, but perhaps he/she knows something I dont.

In your text you said your LDL was 3.3 and the chart says your HDL was 0.7. These are both the wrong side of what they should be - this is what I meant by skewed. As @Lowerfield_no_more says the results are quite unusual. Something doesn't seem right. Maybe a retest at another lab.
