I was rushed to hospital with ECG changes. Blues and sirens. Taken in to lad ... come out transferred to another hospital. Where I had a respiratory arrest for 1 minute CPR was done. Was in and out of consciousness for the next 24 hrs. When I was fully aware of what was going on . I could not remember what had gone on. A doctor was stood at the end of the bed with 2 nurses by my side. Said that I was flat lined for a minute. I was very combative when I came round and they had put me into a deep sleep. When I asked what went on they said that I was not in a very good way and the next 24 hours would be crucial. Well I'm back at home now knackered but still no further forward. Have read my discharge summary and it says hypoxic arrest ... 24hrs observation before releasing.

Gosh, I'd be asking my GP Immediately. You must be scared stiff. No explanations or treatment? Hypoxia is a lack of oxygen. This is the best I could find about it. Do you have asthma or COPD?
"Cardiac arrest caused by pure hypoxemia is uncommon. Hypoxemia is low levels of circulating oxygen in the blood, which can lead to hypoxia at the tissues. Hypoxemia is normally a consequence of asphyxia, which accounts for most of the non-cardiac causes of cardiac arrest25. The following is a list of some of the causes of hypoxemia according to Truhlar:
Airway obstruction: soft tissues (coma), laryngospasm, aspiration
Anemia
Asthma
Avalanche burial
Central hypoventilation – brain or spinal cord injury
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
Drowning
Hanging
High altitude
Impaired alveolar ventilation from neuromuscular disease
Pneumonia
Tension pneumothorax
Trauma
Traumatic asphyxia or compression asphyxia (e.g. crowd crush)
Treating the cause of hypoxia/hypoxemia must be done quickly, because this is one of the potentially reversible causes of cardiac arrest. Proper oxygenation and ventilation are key to restoring adequate amounts of oxygen into the system and negating the lethal cardiac rhythm."
All i can say is I was on pure oxygen and every time they took me off it my levels dropped very quickly. So was on this for 30 hrs before it started to settle. All they said was as your heart is working at 50 percent. This has a lot to do with it. Left in limbo....
That really is disgusting. When I had a heart attack it was just the same; not a word of explanation as to why or what to do next; not even 5 minutes to speak to a cardiologist. It's just not good enough. Do you have someone who can fight your corner for you and pester until you get some information and help? I've just had the same too with my husband. Sent for lots of tests but not one person ever told him why and he won't ask. Don't any of them realise what it does to you mentally , never mind physically? You must get more information from your GP- IF you can get an apointment.
This is not my first ha. I have had 3 since January. To get a appointment with a doctour its a 2 week wait .and when you do get to see him all he wants to do is up your drugs or make a hospital appointment as he is not properly trained to deal with it. My ribs hurt like mad and they have said that was done when they done CPR. When I tell them what it makes me feel like . It's like I have done something wrong.
