I’m new to this group. Apologies if posting on incorrect site.
Out of the blue I had a hypertensive crisis in March with diastolic exceeding 133 with symptoms of a heart attack.
Always had good health no issues. I do have bilateral duplex kidneys. I’m currently having loads of tests but no one knows why I had the crisis. Having heart (which seems fine) and kidneys investigations. I’m on ramipril 2.5mg and since the crisis which has coincided with starting the ramipril I have breathlessness particularly if I go upstairs quickly or rush. I’m also aware of increase heart rate. Never had these symptoms before and also v active and previously exercised regularly. I’m not over weight don’t smoke and 44yrs. My gp or Consultant can’t explain the symptoms I’m wondering if it’s the ramipril? Can anyone help please? Sorry for long post.

Sorry, can`t really help as I`m always breathless but had to come off Ramipril as it gave me a persistent dry cough. There are alternative drugs that work just as well.Good luck.
Have you been put on beta blockers as well? Ramapril will make you a bit breathless but I found it gave me a dry cough. Until they find out what’s going on with you they will try to protect your heart which can be a real pain when your used to being active as I know all too well.
Keep taking all meds unless the doctor takes you off them and I hope they find your problem so you ca get back to normal.
Thank so much. No i’m not on any other meds and they think the problem hypertension is more kidney related. All heart investigations have come back fine.
