March 22 and it was 36 degrees Celsius here in Australia while my partner and I were moving house finally something had to give. Due to a life of poor lifestyle choices bad diet and a thirst for beer and coke rather than water. Zero exercise and suffering hypertension and extremely high blood pressure and on sporadically taking my meds something had to give then I was moving a box and my heart stopped and fell face first onto our tile floor knocking out my front teeth and died for for nine minutes while my partner crying continued to to perform cpr while waiting for the ambulance/ paramedics to arrive who somehow revived me .
After arriving to our towns small hospital I was flown by helicopter to our nearest major city (Brisbane).
In the intensive care unit I had amnesia and lost ten days of memory and twice left hospital against all advice.
Hearing conversations of defibs and stents I was scared and depression kicked in ,my license was suspended and was banned from operating heavy machinery which is my job in earthmoving.
I cried so hard like my life would change forever.
Despite all this I had no idea how serious my situation had been until I by chance met the paramedics who save my life and they couldn’t believe I survived.
Then boom it dawned on me I could have been gone forever had it not been for my beautiful strong partner and two very well trained paramedics that were really on their game.
It’s been eight weeks now since my cardiac arrest . with so many changes so quickly it’s been a real culture shock of lifestyle, diet and fitness.
My brain is functioning back to normal and look forward to returning to work in 3 months.
I just want to say is stay positive despite the road being slow sometimes everyday is progress.
