Hi Vern. You haven't said how slow. Are you taking tablets? My hubby has a naturally low heart beat (54 on a good day!) but he was recently put on bisoprolol which has brought the heart rate down to 42 beats per minute!!

If you're feeling dizzy or passing out I think a trip back to the GP's is in order. He may well be able to rush your cardio consultation through the system.

Good luck xxx

Despite never being significantly 'sporty', my pulse had always been around 40 when I was younger, later increasing to around 50 as I got older. Diagnosed with AF a year ago I was immediately put on 2.5 mg Bisoprolol beta blocker and Apixaban anti-coagulant. Pulse rate dropped to regularly being under 40, once as low as 35, but apart from one significant dizziness spell and occasional minor ones e.g. when getting up too quickly, no real side effects. Worried about my slow pulse, however, Cardiologist has recently reduced my Bisoprolol to the minimum 1.25 mg and my pulse has now settled back to mid-40s. Am I worried, nah, que sera sera. NHS at Taunton have been brilliant so I'm in good hands. A clot in my heart has been dispersed by the Apixaban and a DC cardioversion just before Christmas corrected my AF at least for the time being. I'm being regularly monitored for the remaining problem, mild to medium LV systolic impairment with decreased muscle movement (hypokinesus).
