Beta blocker withdrawal effects

I have been suffering from tachycardia/poor circulation since October following immunosuppressant treatment and seen various drs. One Doctor put me on Propanalol 10mg once a day for the anxiety/high pulse on 1st February 2019. I didn't like the side effects but continued to take them daily. On 18th February I saw another dr who reduced the dose to 5mg as she thought it was too strong for me and making my anxiety worse. She told me to see my GP in a week. My GP said to take the 5 mg on alternate days for one week and then stop them. The week after stopping them I was fine until the weekend when I got palpitations and my GP shot up to 164/90. It's usually 130/80. I restarted the Propanalol 5mg and have stayed on them since but I don't feel right since then. I have palpitations most of the time and my pulse is faster than normal. I was only on the beta blocker for one month before GP stopped it. 2 weeks 10mg, 1 week 5mg, 1 week 5mg alternate days. When I saw my dr, he said it was withdrawal symptoms. I had an ecg which was normal. Can these tablets actually damage the heart either taking them or coming off them? I had a stress echo last week but wasn't told any results. I'm so upset and can't believe this has happened? Also, is it rectifiable? It's an awful feeling of heart going faster. I am on Perindopril and Atorvastatin , for over 20 years. Many thanks.
