I came into the Cardiac unit at Blackpool hospital Last Wednesday. I got into the anaesthetic room, had all the lines put in, a blood test was done and I was found to have very low potassium with very high Co2 I had a TOAand it was discovered I have 2 leaking valves! The operation has been postponed until Wednesday coming and I've been kept in having 3 potassium drinks and bloods done every day. I'm just praying that everything will be fine when I hi down again.

Very low potassium
You're definitely peely wally now but they appear to be on your case. Fingers crossed it all goes well for you and you;re sorted and onto recovery soon. Best wishes.
i can only feel for you i have just recently suffered from the same blood problem, it can take quite a while for the levels to come back up. watch out as those salt drinks can make you drink a lot of water.
when i had the problem it played havoc with my heart and my B.P was all over until things got back to normal.
i too have a leaky valve doesn't really bother though.
the boring part is waiting for your bloods to return to normal, they can't rush it with this i wish you a good recovery from one sufferer here.
Much better for them to find out before the op! My potassium levels dropped after my op and until then I had no idea how much they can affect the heart. Try to relax and enjoy the rest - and have something tasty to eat straight after the patassium drink - I found shortbread helped !!
Oh no how frustrating & upsetting for you. Hang in there, hopefully you will feel so much better soon x
