Hi all. I had stents about 9 months ago so am on a fair few drugs. I'm off to Spain and I wondered what to do with the meds. I don't really want to put them in the hold in case my bag gets lost. Is it OK just to have them on board with a prescription? Thanks v much.

Flying with medication
Hi I have never put my meds in main baggage in Hold simply keep in hand luggage and never had any problems. Haven't carried the prescription ( nobody has asked to see it ) but I guess it's not a bad idea ! 😊
Never had any problems with meds. Just take in carry on bag but keep them in the boxes with your name on just in case they look. I personally have never been asked anything about mines. Happy holidays❤️
I had mine in hand luggage - wasn’t an issue.
You’re advised by holiday companies to take meds in your hand luggage with prescription. In Europe it’s never been a problem but some countries require them to be in boxes. We now have a photo of the prescription on mobile phone too when we travel. Just in case.
There is guidance on the .gov website (gov.uk/hand-luggage-restric... but it’s really straightforward. The advice is simply to keep all meds in original packaging with legible pharmacy labels on and to carry a copy of your repeat slip and/or a letter from your consultant stating what medication you take and why. My understanding is that a letter is more necessary in complex cases/carrying loads of meds or where you’re travelling outside of Europe: I successfully navigated flying to the US with 5 day’s worth of my littleun’s 16 meds in hand luggage, although Heathrow did frisk, scan and swab the pair of us when they x-rayed the bag - as per advice I found elsewhere online, I did tell the x-ray operator when handing the bag over, but I had more than 100mls of liquid (nebulisers) and the better part of 150 tablets on my person 🤷♂️
Hope you enjoy the trip.
I do believe you can have your meds with you in hand luggage but have a prescription and for extra reassurance a letter from the doctor, depending on where you travel to. They charge for letters, well mine do anyway.
Keep a good supply with you in your hand luggage just in case of delays etc.
Just come back from Spain. Their health services are rate 3rd best in the world. The NHS ratings are not good and getting worse. I have never had any problems taking prescription meds in.
