Hi

There should be no complications if you take your medications regularly and you feeling fine

Make sure you keep moving so there is blood circulation

Can't help I'm afraid, but just wanted to wish you well ❤️

I have flown long haul for 13 hours each way without any issues. In fact, my cardiologist said that blood clot risks are lower as I’m on blood thinners. I still wore compression socks though. Go and enjoy yourself. Life is too short.

I’m on aspirin and clopidogrel , but may wear the flight socks . Was you advised to wear them ?

I wasn’t advised to wear them, but always did before heart attack and stent so have just carried on.

I had my HA and 2 stents 6 weeks ago and am doing pretty well - thankfully no permanent damage to my heart.

We already had a holiday booked for a couple of weeks time and obviously I was concerned we may have to cancel. So I asked the registrar who helped perform the procedure and subsequently checked with my GP who both said that I can fly days after days a routine stent - provided there are no complications or further treatment required.

So we are off in a few weeks for 2 weeks of total relaxation and sun which I feel as if we need! Honestly I think I could worry myself into a state if I thought too much about it so I resolved that I have flown many many hours in the past with a blocked artery - now it’s clear I’m probably at less risk now than I ever was..

If you are concerned check with your cardio team but enjoy your holiday and have some fun!

Insurance will not cover you if done less than 6 weeks before flight that should be no issues. You will be on thinners/ anticoagulants so should have no issuez but walkabout and wear compression socks to make sure you sre ok.

I received six stents last July and have flown London-New York twice. I refuse to let them cramp my style.

I have flown but only short haul no problems but was 8 months post HA and stents. I was due to fly 5 weeks after HA and stents but my insurance wouldn’t cover me but found some elsewhere but spoke to GP as needed a fit to fly certificate for airline and he wasn’t keen on me flying so soon, it wasn’t the flight but he felt it was early in my recovery to be in another country and needing care. He didn’t say dint go but I said what would you do if you were me and he said “I wouldn’t go”. That made my mind up. We are all different as long as you feel okay and feel confident and you have insurance then it shouldn’t be an issue.

I was lucky in as much as I didn’t have HA . Think they got to me in time , so it may be different for me . I have cardiac rehab this afternoon , so will ask the cardiac nurse

I asked the cardiac rehab nurses they were ok with me going away it was my GP who put the dampeners on it. Yes your recovery probably not as long as with a HA too.

I had a stent 2004, we lived in India for five years so flew back to the UK at least three times a year. Just be sensible, get up and walk around, stretch arms and legs, match in your seat. This is what is recommended anyway. There are YouTube videos showing seated exercises on planes to prevent DVT

Yes,

Had 3 stents over 20 years (I am now 89) and, since I was 60 have had annual long-haous (Australia). No unpleasant events - apart from usual tiredness.

best wishes

I had stents end of June 2023. Flew to Rio, 12 hours and back from Santiago in Chile ,13 hours in February, no problems, but keep hydrated and avoid alcohol on the flight.Good luck Steve
