Hi, I haven’t been given any advice either but from what I’ve found out the best exercise is walking. It’s recommended to walk at least 30 mins at least 3 times a week. I don’t think that’s enough so I do more than that daily. We need to walk through the pain and push ourselves as that is the way to build collateral arteries.
Thanks for replying. It’s so frustrating because there is real proof that supervised exercise programs are the best way to improve walking distance. Worth asking your GP.
Meanwhile! I was diagnosed in August 2017. I try do all the stuff I’m supposed to. Eat well (mostly), get on the exercise bike for 45 mins, go to the gym, walk each day and take all my medications.
And it seems to be working! My abi increased on each leg. I have 100% blockage in one leg and lots of rubbish all over other arteries. So helping myself is vital.
You are so right. Walking through the pain is worth it.
Have to share this with someone who really gets it! Just had the most amazing 20 min walk incl a little uphill. And no pain. It may be -2 out but my legs didn’t care at all.
