Long term medication

Just over 5 weeks ago had MV repair. So far so good.

I have been prescribed Bisprolol (beta blocker) twice/day and Amiodarone (antiarrhythmic) once/day. Have others been prescribed the same or similar medication and for how long did they have to take it.

My heart is working well, a good steady pulse around 65/min increasing to 80 beats/min during cardiac rehab exercise. Blood pressure average 125/65

Hi bowls12, I’m sorry I can’t help with this as I’m pre-op MV repair, rather than post-op. There is, however, a good FB support group for this. If you search for Mitral Valve Repair Patients Group, there is a wealth of experience from the US, UK, Australia and many other countries with this surgery in common. Lots of extremely helpful advice from member once you have joined the group.

Hope your recovery continues to go well.

Hello. Both tablets are very good at making your heart stronger. I had my mv repair 9 weeks ago at Southampton hospital and have recovered very well.you will find that your medication may change over time as your doctor/consultant reviews your progress. I was on both, just Bisoprolol now. Best of luck with a speedy recovery. Follow the excercise instructions the hospital gave you. It’s important to get your body working (gently) again.

Thank you. Exercise is not a problem the cardiac rehab team have me at the gym once/wek, plus I walk every day when it's not raining. 1/2 mile in 20 minutes, plan to increase the distance this week.
