Ok so have being having pains around chest for about 3/4 months also more recently hip and rib pain aswell as top back pain.

I have being on sertraline for almost 3 months now (was 50mg upped to 100mg New Years Eve) but have put on alot of weight since starting. Have being told it should balance it self out and also start a weight management class next Wednesday for 12 weeks.

Since dosage has being upped I keep on getting more of the pains around my left/centre breast area which are like a dull pain. It isnt all the time sometimes whilst laying other times I can be moving but it is there. I used to be able to take 2mg diazepam/Valium and this would settle but now I am taking 4mg and still having this pain on and off. I am concerned but my doctor/s aren't and tell me its not heart attack as that is normally caused by exercise and doesn't last this long, it's not enlarged heart as I have had chest xray and ecg also my age being 28 (29 this Sunday) they Would know by family history....... so what could this be, I have taken the medication for anxiety/depression and it is still occuring.

Also worth noting I have just finished a course of amoxicillin which was for a sore throat that was suspected to be a viral infection but that seems to have got better but still sore. I have found myself since increasing the Sertraline and taking the amoxicillin to be more fatigued and have had days in bed over the past 5 days.

I shall also be asking my Dr on Friday to test T3 and T4 (have already had TSH) aswell as D-dimer to rule out hyperthroyidism and a Pulminory embolism. I know some will be related to weight now as I am now weighing 255lbs - 260lbs (18.5-19 stone) with a height off 5 foot 11. But I see programs with people who are double this weight and not moaning about chest pains etc so I dont think it is all weight

You could discuss it with your doctor on Friday. Write a list of questions, doubts and fears that you have and talk to the doctor about them. Write down the answers. It might be better to take someone with you.

Hello and welcome to the forum! I had hoped that others with a similar background may have responded. To be honest I am not totally sure you have underlying heart problems. The best non-invasive tests are a stress ECG and an echocardiogram. This might be worth discussing with your GP.

Sertraline does not have to cause weight gain. My late mother was on it because of the depressive effects of Parkinsons and the associated medication. Good luck with the weight loss program – I imagine it is either WW or Slimming World. Losing weight should make a big difference. A friend’s wife has gone from a BMI ~35 to just over 25 and now is free of chest pain, breathlessness and joint pain (she had convinced herself she needed replacement hips and knees!). One thing not to do is compare yourself to others as we all have a genetic makeup. One person may smoke and live to ninety whilst another smoker may die at fifty. If you smoke you may be the second and not the first person!

Cheers for replying, I have being told by my GP, a second Dr from my GP surgery and hospital Dr that it isn't heart but am on the waiting list to see a cardiologist. Appparnelty the dr cant refer me for echocardiogram or a stress test that is down to the cardiologist when I see hlm/her. I have waitied 2 months so would have thought it cant be much longer and has being about 3 months since my issues started which I guess suggests it isnt an impending heart attack.

I have definitely gained a significant amount of weight and now have a BMI tapping on 37 so am thinking/hoping these chest/rib/hip/back pains are to do with that.

I am actuallly with Ace Lifestyle weight management not sure if you heard od them same principal as ww almost in regards to having a food planner.

I understand not 2 people are the same but im sitting here 19 stone thinking m dying and others are 40+ stone makes me wonder for sure. I dont smoke, drink, drug so I am hoping I have added a few years back to my life.

Again thankyou for replying :-)
