Mild to moderate systolic dysfunction

Hello,

I'm new here and just wondered if anyone has had the same or similar symptoms.

About three months ago I began to have occasional very slight chest pains - more twinges than anything else but not lasting more than a few seconds at a time and to the left side of my chest. I went to my GP who did an ECG which showed that I had an abnormal wave form indicating that I had Left Bundle Branch Block. My GP sent me straight away for a chest x-ray which proved to be okay.

I arranged an appointment with a consultant who did a further ECG and confirmed the LBBB. He suggested a CT scan and also an echocardiogram. Once I'd had these scans I went back to the consultant who said that the CT scan showed only mild calcification and mild atheroma with no significant stenosis. Adding that, "This is extremely reassuring that the chest discomfort experienced is not cardiac related. His echocardiogram has shown that the dyssynchrony related to the LBBB. Systolic function does appear a little reduced and is measured as an LVEF of 44%."

My consultant recommended that as the LBBB and systolic dysfunction were related to hypertension, my Ramipril dose should be increased from 5mg to 7.5mg and then to 10mg assuming no resulting kidney issues with the increased dose.

After all this time and the increase in the Ramipril I am still getting these occasional twinges. Sometimes I have gone for almost two weeks without any pain and I can have a couple of days when I have the twinges and then some days I'm fine. My question is has anyone had the same sort of symptoms of mild twinges with a similar diagnosis?

Added to the above I did wake up two mornings running last week with a slight chest pain in the centre of my chest but this lasted less than a minute. My consultant did say that I could have an MRI to rule out other causes.

Thank you for reading.

I have moderate SD and I get chest pains intermittently to. I have other heart conditions to though. I have a loop monitor fitted which has shown they are nothing untoward. But you know your body better than anyone and I’ve found other people with heart conditions on this and other support sites can also experience the same.
