Well it’s been 6 weeks since my blood clot in my leg was diagnosed and the six week of daily injections . I arrived at my local hospital at 11.45 for my dopller scan on my leg at 12pm . The radilologist spent a lot of time doing my whole leg then brought in a colleague for a second opinion. I then made my way to The Acute Medical Ward for the scan to be assessed I arrived at 12.25pm and after 30 minutes the practice nurse admitted my notes had been lost somewhere in the hospital they were trying to track them down but I couldn’t be seen until my notes were found. At 2.25pm two hours later my notes turned up with a few red faces god knows where they had been . The Advanced Practice Nurse then phoned haematology for advice as the scan had shown there was a big improvement in the clot BUT there was still some left just below my knee. He came to tell me that haematology were too busy to speak to him and they’d phone back in an hour he suggested I went and got a coffee and had a walk around the hospital . As you can imagine I’m now getting quite pissed off !!!!
So I got a coffee and kept away for an hour on my return I was told I needed to carry on with the daily injections until I could get an appointment with the thrombosis department which would take at least 2 weeks. So I had to wait till they spoke to the district nurse to arrange visits to my house tomorrow and Sunday . Then I had to wait for a doctor to issue a prescription for the 2 weeks of Tinzaparin by now it’s 6pm and I get the prescription so I go down to Lloyds pharmacy on the ground floor and the lady behind the counter who was really cute by the way tells me there’s a 45 minute wait at the moment ............ it’s just one thing after another. I get home at 7pm as I only live 10 minutes from the hospital and then open the fridge and realise I’ve got nothing in for tea .............. have you ever had one of those shitty days !!! ...........So I toddle off to the supermarket and get something for my tea . It’s 8.45pm and my teas nearly ready and I’m hoping I don’t get food poisoning just to round off the day lol !!! 😂😂😂😂😂
Anyway I’ve had lots of good days this week only had the edge taken off by today but we can’t have everything . I’m getting stronger everyday and although I was hoping to get the all clear today I’m sure I will soon.
Enjoy the rest of your Friday evening my friends and have a great weekend
Hugs and kisses
Pete xx

Sorry to hear the clot has not healed fully - hopefully it will disappear in the next few weeks. I am not surprised to hear the notes got lost. Having attended outpatient clinics since the sixties noticed problems start in the nineties with the records. It was also then I started getting appointments changed due to unforeseen circumstances. Because of the diabetes my eyes get checked regularly. Last year I noticed a very slim set of notes. On querying I was told they had been computerised but that they were currently inaccessible. The consultant neither knew which type of diabetes I had not that they had treated cataracts in 2006! Scary!
Anyway glad to hear things are improving otherwise. For me three months was the real turning point.
Hi there Pete.. just read your amazingly not day. Ha. You definitely don't do things by half.. which is usually my song.. I look forward to hearing your next post and keeping fingers crossed all will be well with you.. have a great weekend Pete x
Hi Pete, I think you can call that a bit of a day. Hopefully the last of the clot will be dealt with with the rest of the injections. You are doing so well and I think you are entitled to get a little p****d off now and again.
Waiting, that's the price we pay for being NHS patients, but, it's a small price to pay. Sorry your DVT' ( deep vein thrombosis) hadn't completely gone. Hope you get the all clear in a couple of weeks.
You always cheer me up, Pete and help me to look on the bright side. If I look out the window my silver birch tree is dancing in the sunlight with the most amazing colours. What could be nicer.
In this day and age of advanced technology the NHS situation with paper records and losing them is astonishing. I remember at the end of my stress echo the consultant came in, looked at the results (shock, horror), diagnosed angina and started prescribing stuff to keep me alive until the angiogram. She asked what my blood pressure was when I last went to the GP. Me all flustered couldn't remember but I thought it had been on the form requesting the stress echo. I do remember thinking "wouldn't it be great if the NHS could get to a place where everbody's record is kept in the cloud so all practitioners wherever they are could access the info at all times." Like Michael says doctors are making decisions without full info.
I'm very sorry to hear about your latest upset. It's horrible when you gear yourself up for positive news and it goes pear shaped. But you're almost there.... Have a great weekend!
Sorry to hear the clot hadn’t yet dissolved and that the hospital gave you the runaround, but be happy the clot stayed in your leg and didn’t end up in your lungs. From personal experience I can tell you that pulmonary embolism is very scary and potentially fatal.
Wish my clots 'disappeared' quickly. I hate to break the news that not all clots just go, some leave lasting effects, that's from my own personal experience but fingers crossed for you and take care.
