Hi,

I have suffered from a racing heart and heart palpatations for at least 10 years. I had several tests done and all came back normal so it was just concluded that it was normal for me to have a high pulse and I went on a beta blocker. I always suspected I had an overactive thyroid and it was finally diagnosed 7 years later (3 years ago). I had a total thyroidectomy 5 months ago and was hoping my palpatations would improve but I’m still suffering . I saw a cardiologist yesterday who was utterly unhelpful and dismissed every single symptom I was having. I have two questions if I may:

1) I have noticed my resting heart rate is significantly better when I start my period and then increases when I ovulate. Any ideas what could be causing this?

2) on my holter tape report I was told that everything was fine and it was all ‘sinus rhythm’. However I noticed it said on the report “2 dropped beats: 1 shows nocturnal 2nd degree AV block (wenchbach) the other shows a non-conducted SVE.”

I know dropped beats are normal but I’m worried about the wenchbach given what I’ve just googled!

Hi...I think the word is "Holter" or something similar - if you get it right, you might get more response.

If your lady hormones naturally help, it might be that hormones could solve the problem?

Are you stable on the thyroid replacement ? 5 months isn't long and depending on your results you may still need dose adjustments. Symptoms affecting the heart are very common in thyroid disease.
