CONTINUED TIREDNESS - 4 MONTHS AFTER BYPASS CABG

How many other people have this continued tiredness? As normal a life as possible, exercise, walking, sensible food, no smoking, no alcohol. Sleep is also a problem, but not from pain. Love to hear from anyone with similar and if there is ever a remedy.

Hi there,

I am coming up to two years post cabg here. It does ease off, currently the cocktail of drugs you are on are meant to slow you down, giving your heart time to heal. As time passes your dosages will be reduced, some will be stopped totally, but your recovery has started. Good and bad days, even now for me as well, but the good, well they are good, 15 mile hikes, following day same again, these happen. Others on here, running again, biking again, its all down to you and your recovery, how fit you were prior to your event.

The sleep, well thats a different matter in these early days, take plenty of cat naps, get some good books, tv shows, films and try and nap whenever you can, it will get better as well.

Good luck

Mark

Three months on I still get very tired to the extent that they decided not to titrate the Bisoprolol upwards. I am somewhat convinced this is the problem as the only change from my pre-operative medication was the addition of Bisoprolol, quadrupling of statin dose and deletion of isosorbide mononitrate (an anti-anginal). The pluses though I can walk more than 20 yards and no angina pectoris. I have had the odd drink since week 6 with cardiologist's OK. His view was a pint, a glass of wine or a malt a few times a week were fine. Obviously they have to be of good quality! :) One of the rehab team's view was zero but I suspect that was a personal view!

Hi I had this issue and thought it was all to do with the op. Having reduced my Bisoprolol from 3.75mg to 1.25mg I am convinced my energy levels have increased. I know this is only a small dosage and it may be in my head but I think it has helped. I am just over 6 months post triple CABG. Sleeping was an issue early on but only to get a comfortable position. I have never had any issue with sleeping and after about a month I was back to sleeping 6-8 hours per night. Good luck x
