Hi Kaz

Glad to hear everything has gone well and you are now home. Take things easy and don’t overdo it, just listen to your body.

That's great Kaz, glad you're through it recovering! Take care and take it slow. I'm due next month (probably) so, if you're up to it, may I ask how you found the first few days post-op and what valve you decided on? And sorry if this posts twice, phone playing up! Good luck. Nic

Good questions, Nic. I'm also waiting for op (seeing surgeon in a fortnight, so op may be soon).

Hi, I was in critical care for first 2 days and I remember being woken up with the breathing tube still in ( another of my fears) but my family were all there supporting me. Once that was out I actually coped really well. The pain was no where near as bad as I expected. There was a lot of wires and tubes coming out of everywhere but over the next few days they were all out. My surgeon knew how terrified I was and was great at reassuring me and he came straight to see me in critical care and asked if it was as bad as id expected and I said no. I decided on a tissue valve so I have Daisy the cow and she's doing a brilliant job my symptoms I had for years have disappeared! So to sum it all up I think we build up a fear naturally but it really is easier than I thought. I'm 2 weeks post op today and apart from still very tired I'm defo feeling ok. X

Thank you Kaz. That's all really interesting and helpful to know. Yes I'm not looking forward to the tube either but what you say is most reassuring. I'm thinking of moo/oink too! Good luck with the recovery and glad it's made such a difference already. Nic
