How do I find a surgeon experienced in repairing Thoracic Aortic Aneurysms (TAAs)?

I have been diagnosed with an 8cm TAA.

Is anyone in this forum suffering from or had the same condition? I am trying to find a surgeon who has extensive experience of repairing TAAs.

Can anyone out there suggest a suitable surgeon?

I could suggest someone but have no personal experience of them as I had a quadruple bypass with underlying medical conditions.

A good starting point would be to look at the surgeons at the top heart hospitals and check their profiles/CVs.

Hi Bill. Here is a link to the Society for Cardiothoracic Surgery that gives a fair amount of information that might help with your decision.

Also here is a link to the BHF site which explains ratings.

This is a link to the CQC website which gives you the rating for the inspections for each hospital. You will need to filter them.

I hope this helps and you find someone that you’re happy with. Take care. Zena

SCTS Website (Society of Cardio Thorasic Surgeon's)

Good help that's how I found my surgeon.

The surgeon I found was actually the surgeon I had he found me😂 I needed a complex valve repair.

SCTS and, dare I say it, Dr Google (helps if they are eminent as it can take a while to trawl through the likely long list of names). Your other option is to go through the websites of your local cardiothoracic centre (wherever that may be).

Hi Folks, thanks for all you inputs. I am currently ploughing through websites and data and trying to get a feel for each individual but in the end I reckon that I'll only know if I'm happy with a particular surgeon once I've met and talked with him/her.
