LV systolic dysfunction

Hi. I have just been diagnosed with mild LV systolic dysfunction after a recent echo. I was having the echo to check a leak I have in my heart and now this has been discovered. I’m just wondering is this prognosis deemed only by ejection fraction or other things? As surely my EF is effected my regurgitation jet (leak) and clinging on to the hope it’s not what they have said?? It’s a new cardiologist I seen after being wrongly discharged from my last one. He appeared inexperienced, young and couldn’t understand why I felt I should still be seen by them. My leak I have is due to open heart surgery to repair an aneurism which was through all 4 chambers and aorta. It left me with total heart block a leak and a dual responsive pacemaker. 2nd person known to ever survive such a rupture so it seems. 18 years on and still here (just about). I’m 42. Thanks for any help or light that can be shed on this.

Hi Suzie I’m sorry I don’t know enough about this condition. I wonder if it’s worth speaking to the BHF helpline to ask one of the nurses? Also perhaps try and go back to your original cardiologist especially if you were wrongly discharged maybe speak to their secretary. Also perhaps book a time with your GP who may be able to discuss or refer you back to original cardiologist. Hope you get some answers soon. Take care. Zena x
