Swollen right ankle

Evening...I am moderate aortic stenosis and on watch and wait!!! Last few days right ankle swelling and feels 'tight' and painful up leg . Been feeling so tired and sometimes nauseous. Been to g.p. today to get new sick note and she said fluid retention! ( there's a surprise) and to speak to cardiologist on 30th August. Weight fluctuating daily. Trying to stay positive but sometimes feel so anxious and like time bomb. Does anyone else have just one ankle swell? Thank you x

Hi there,

Bit unusual for just one ankle to swell up but not unheard of, have you taken a knock anywhere on that lower leg? What meds have you been prescribed and did you discuss your nausea with your gp?

I wouldn't worry about the daily weight fluctuations, so a comparison weekly see where you are with those,

Hi...Yes I thought unusual to.( mom had heart failure and remember the swollen legs well.) Only meds I on which been on for years levothyroxine. Atorvastatin. Amodipline. Omprezole. Have hypothyroidism. Fibromyalgia and osteoarthritis and hiatus hernia. .Doc just said discuss everything with cardiologist.

Ok it may be the amlopodine, but I would speak to your cardiologist

Yes, I had HA about 8 weeks ago and although things seem to be going pretty well so far I do find that my right ankle is inclined to swell.....and also that I have a numbness around my right shin at times...……..it does seem to right itself overnight!...…….going to start rehab shortly so will mention it there!

I’ve been told if it’s my right something is wrong but wiv Heart valve issues the light will swell up more than the right .

My mum having same issues but the foor that swells is same leg that graphs were taken from for bypass. She is potentially been referred to a rheumatology specialist as she is in pain and not sure if gout or another arthritis.

I have seen it as a result of PAD (think of it as stenosis if the leg arteries). A quick Doppler test can confirm either way.
