AF with bad ankle and back therefore problems exercising.

I am now almost never in normal Heart rhythm. It is eitherA/F, or supraventricular,or unclassified. I have a permanently swollen outer left ankle (scan says damage and arthritis) often have a pain in the left buttock relating to spinal cavity being reduced with spurs on. This means that I have problems walking any distance, increasing problems with golf even with a buggy. Kneeling and lying on tummy ouch. Ditto exercise bike. Feel better with leg up and warmth on my back with deep breathing and essential oils. I need to exercise I want to continue golf with a buggy but increasingly difficult. Ankle support useless. Have custom made insoles. Can only take panadol/paracetemol which is only a temporary alleviation. Any suggestions?

Golf With a buggy is my exercise, and social life but it is now very difficult and always hurts.

Also garden a lot cos large beautiful well established walled organic garden which needs me. Never dig. (Bad for microbiome of the soil and me). Can only do for a limited time cos of getting out of breath and hurting. Try to either garden or golf whenever I can.

Hate chlorinated swimming pools. Am on gluten free, dairy free, and minimal sugar diet. Take supplements. Cook from scratch. Just had 80th birthday.

What an awful lot of restrictions you have. It’s tough looking for better ways to keep as fit as you possibly can, as we get older and more restricted (I am nearly the same age).. For instance, your gardening……which is great exercise, but maybe your body objects later? I know mine does.

As your choices get more limited perhaps its time to rethink your exercise preferences. Swimming could be one of the best to take the weight off your joints?

I know that my body objects to too much gardening but I try to do an hour or two every day when not wet or too cold. I HATE chlorine and we are way inland.

Another vote for swimming.

If you don't have a seawater pool locally then maybe revisit your opinions about chlorinated pools? You don't have many alternatives so perhaps you need to compromise?

Good luck!

Thank you. Any other ideas?

Hello :-)

It is not so easy when you have other health issues like you do which sound painful to exercise

There are sitting down exercises you can do and as well as your golf even if you do have a golf even if you do have to use a golf buggy and gardening is some form of exercise which is better than none at all

You sound like you are doing your best with difficult health issues that are painful

Happy belated 80th Birthday I hope you had a lively day :-) x

Thank you. It was really great. We had our entire family, 3 children plus spouses, all 9 grandchildren plus the partners of the two elder ones, plus great granddaughter, plus friends we have known for over 40 years - with some staying for a week. Quite wonderful but exhausting. Am recovering. I suppose I don’t want to accept that my body is not as fit as it was and what I can do now is becoming more limited. Need a magic wand.

Hello :-)

Sounds like you had a wonderful Birthday and so lovely to have been able to celebrate it with so many friends and family :-)

If you find that magic wand after you have used it please pass it on I could do with one to :-) x
