Hi I'm new here. I was diagnosed with angina in 2010, but at my latest checkup I was informed that I had printz metal angina. I was wondering if anyone knows about this condition, and how it is different from angina.

Hi Sue,

It is angina due to your coronary arteries going into spasm aka vasospastic angina or Coronary artery spasms .

Ordinary angina tends to come on under stress (this may be as little as walking fifty yards) whilst Prinzmetal occurs at rest (often whilst sleeping),

Absolutely,

I have my pain at rest and I am often woken at night.

The cold and emotional stress are my main triggers.

I am loving the warm weather!

Hi, I have this also. One of the biggest differences is that prinzmetal angina is less predictable and comes on out of the blue. Stress does seem to make it worse but exercise not so much. The major difference is that most doctors do not understand it and so it is difficult to get proper help for it.
