AFIB triggers

Just had a brief episode of AFIB, I have identified the trigger as liquorice!

Had my first few pieces of lovely liquorice for ages last night and almost immediately went into AFIB.

I suffered persistant AFIB until flecainide eventually got me back into sinus rhythm over a year ago.

Previous episodes were caused by cold remedies containing Phenylephrine Hydrochloride, and good old stress.

Just thought I'd post this as a heads up to fellow sufferers.

Anyone else out there know of other triggers we Affibbers should avoid?

Liquorice contains glycyrrhizin (this gives it its sweet favour). This can cause the kidneys to release potassium which in some individuals can cause palpitations and/or A Fib. Try a couple of pieces of dark chocolate as an alternative as it contains antioxidants and does not cause heart disturbances.
