I was diagnosed with a LVBBB a few years ago, they inserted a pacemaker for bradycardia - should the LVBBB be regularly checked ?

Hi Gordy900,

LBBB stands for Left Bundle Branch Block( hence the abbreviation- much easier to use/write in clinical practice!) which is a very specific waveform seen on an ECG. It means that the electrical impulses that travel though your heart appear visually different but aren't necessarily associated with symptoms per se. So if you had bradycardia ,but your ECG was showing LBBB the doctors were treating the bradycardia which I am presuming was making you dizzy as opposed to the LBBB.

To add to this a pacemaker 'rhythm' has a specific waveform too ,so if your device is set to override your normal heart beat, doctors will always be able to tell if you need ECGs in the future.

As I would say to anyone,if you experience any symptoms such as dizziness/shortness of breath or palpitations, it never hurts to get it checked out.

I hope I've helped.

Thank you,

Philippa
