As some of you know I have been waiting for a date for my 2nd heart surgery, I had a TOE last June and was then referred back to the surgical team as my mitral valve repair had again developed a severe leak.
Since then I have met my surgeon twice, had lung function tests, 2 CT angiograms and 2 MRI angiograms.
I had a phone call today from my surgeon's secretary and I am pencilled in for 17th April, I know from experience that dates can and do change but at least i feel a bit nearer.
Best wishes
Annette

Well lets hope they can manage to keep to that date, bless you. The waiting game is so hard isn't it. I'll keep my fingers and toes crossed for you, keep smiling, Jo 😊😊😊
Your right the waiting is awful, last time around my op was cancelled on the morning it was due to take place, so hopefully no repeat of that this time.
Good idea Annette, I invested in a second hand recliner chair that also tips you out and couldn’t have done with out it as I slept in it for several weeeks after my op. Nicknamed geriatric chair, shortened to Gerry.
Love the idea of having a Gerry to tip me onto my feet ! My leg muscles are so weak that I struggle to get up without using my arms, which I know will be a no no after surgery. I will have to start looking in the second hand shops.
I would certainly recommend a Gerry chair. Mine is a Henley by Sherbourne, the smallest model which suits me as the seat isn’t too deep as I am short. I got it on eBay concentrating on those nearest to my address. These chairs are very heavy so you will need help to have it delivered. I also bought a special cushion fromhouse of bath with back, seat, wings and weighted at the top so that it doesn’t slip down, bliss!
I have been working (gently) on building up my core strength and can now stand up from normal height chairs without using my arms. Now looking at buying raisers for the bed (need abiut3").
Hi Mary. Yes I am going to try and find things to do, within my limits which are very narrow these days. Went out with our daughter and grandchildren today but had an episode of AF, keeled over and had to return home !
That sounds very tough, I hope you feel better this evening.
I was in hospital from diagnosis to operation and for several weeks after. I found that sewing and knitting helped me as did adult colouring books and some easy puzzles. I initially could not concentrate on anything more than easy chick lit.
All the best and hope tomorrow is an easier day for you.
I am so pleased that you finally have a date. The indecision and waiting is the worst. I will be thinking of you. On Monday I was put on the list for mechanical mitral valve repair. I’m looking at June for mine. We can keep each other company on our recovery!! Sending positive thoughts your way xxx
Hi Sarah, I remember exchanging posts a couple of months ago and our stories are very similar with a repair and now needing a replacement. I sometimes wish I had gone for the replacement the 1st time around but as I have said before," hindsight is a wonderful thing."
I hope you manage to get your surgery in June and I hope to post a few comments when I feel up to it after my op.
