Go and speak with your pharmacist. He/she will have details of your current repeats and will be able to advise. Personally I have found/think most of them and cough medicines utterly useless. Some can actually up your BP by drying you up which is something most of us don't need.
Best thing is to rest up, eat healthily and drink plenty (I find warm-hot "no added sugar" Ribena a pleasant alternative to tea/coffee).
There is a nasal spray called Sterimar which is drug free but contains certain minerals which are effective against colds. I always find it really effective as prevention for me when my children get colds. Also zinc and vitamin c. Good luck!
Vitamin C is also good for your blood vessels (think back to scurvy and limeys - scurvy is a disease of the blood vessels and limes contained Vitamin C) as it reduces irritation which can lead to plaque build up as the body tries to repair itself but actually does damage. My cardio team is quite happy for me to take the standard recommended daily dose.
My doctor told me if it doesn’t say on the box u can’t wiv heart disease u can take it. I was born with heart disease and a heart defect so I have no idea 4 ur heart condition.
Do ask the pharmacist, I did showed the list of medication I am on and he told me just to take paracetemol and use something to inhale, like oilbas oil or menthol. What I do now as well, I make chicken soup with lots of garlic, leeks and herbs, rosemary and thyme, seems good and it is tasty. Hope you do not get a cold from the family.
