Loss of sensation in back.

Have noticed that there is a slight loss of sensation in my back, upper left side. No pain. Am wondering if this is connected to deprivation of oxygen? Have atherosclerosis and diabetes type 2, plus a few other serious conditions. Going to see the doctor just over a week's time. Has anyone got any answers on this, please? Worried that my body is shutting down after years of chronic stress. Could this be related to that...?

Hi Lydia - sorry about the symptoms you're having, which do sound a little strange. Sometimes people with diabetes can have symptoms like this because of problems with their blood vessels and nerve pathways, but hopefully your GP can help clear this up for you or refer to a specialist if needs be.

Take care, Chris

Is it likely to be as serious as peripheral neuropathy is if you get that in your feet, legs? That can lead onto complications like amputations? It was suggested online that emotional and psychological stress can cause a depletion in oxygen in this area, too?

It's difficult to say for sure at this early stage, but stress certainly causes a lot of physical symptoms for people. Have you asked your GP for a referral to someone who can help you manage your stress?

I'm seeing a psychologist at this moment. He, and his team, are not helping me much. I'm seeing the GP in just over a week's time. I will request to see if anything can be done to assist me. Maybe some talking therapy..
