hi, I have a heart condition since birth, had the ross procedure when I was 21, but now I am waiting for more surgery on my pulmonary valve. Its just a waiting game, I have two young children too which scares me so much.

Od dear, the waiting game is a pain, you are kind of in limbo arn't you.

Lets hope you do get a date in the very near future.

When you do, I would say living in the UK, we are very, very lucky with the cardiac surgeons we have. So you really are in very good hands.

It is indeed more intense when we think about the kids.

So please try not to let yourself worry too much.

You could always call your consultant's Secretary just to give a little nudge.

Take care now, Jo x

It's nerve wracking I sympathise, you are without doubt in the best possible hands but it doesn't stop you thinking the worst. Spend some time thinking about plans for your future, make aims, yes it may cause more angst but when you get to the other side just remember what you have to look forward to

Hi, I too was born with a heart condition, bicuspid aortic stenosis, I had my open heart surgery June 2012 at 28yrs old. I had a tissue valve put in so I could have my family, my boy is now 2 and I'm currently 21wks pregnant. Your only human to be scared but having been through the surgery it isn't as bad as you think it's going to be. The recovery itself is slow initially but these surgeries are done routinely and like the others say we have the best surgeons doing them. I have to have my valve replaced again probably within the next 2-5years if I'm lucky if not sooner. It scares me now I Have a family but make sure you have a good support network around u, family friends and you will be absolutely fine. :-) I was back to work within 11 wks! I was only in hospital 5 days. Sitting up the same day in ICU. Honestly it wasn't as horrendous as you would think , I hope this helps a little :-)
