My Beating Heart
Ask for a referral to cardiologist as there are drugs to help not sure if they work for everyone, but it's worth finding out what is causing palpitations.
Hi, I too have had palpitations on and off over the years. I have an odd remedy that is worth trying - I know how worrying they can be. It's called a mudra, a hand position that is used in the yogic tradition. Curl your index finger into the bottom of the thumb, touch the middle and ring finger to the tip of the thumb and straighten the little finger. Don't worry if you can't get it straight away, just keep trying. Ideally, hold for a few minutes at a time, as many times as you can remember over the day. Think of it as closing a relay or flicking a switch to charge a battery. If your charge is low it takes time to recharge so it may not work right away... though one lady I taught this said it WAS like flicking a switch and they stopped straight away. The beauty is, it will do you no harm with no side effects. Give it a try, and good luck!
Thanks for this advice and I for one am going to try it! I get very uncomfortable palpitations at night and have to sit up until my heart calms down. I don't get it during the day, but then I am always busy - out in my garden pottering around or indoors baking or reading or doing puzzles so maybe I just don't notice. I will post the result in a while.
Hi..I used to suffer with palpatations quite often and I pushed to get answers for them... Don't give up, there are drugs out there that can help.
Hi, I too suffer with very frequent and intense heart palpitations. I've had every test going and my cardiologist can't find anything wrong although my heart function is at the low end of normal. I'm being monitored as it could be the early stages of dilated cardiomyopathy , I'm due a cardiac MRI this week to see if there have been any changes in the last year. There are drugs that can help. I take a beta blocker called Carvedilol which has really helped and the side effects have been minimal. Go back to your GP and ask for help. Good luck .
