Scalp Psoriasis

Once again, I've had a flare up. It's most distracting. I'm 54 bloke who is a frustrated musician and rocker. I have thick shoulder length hair which for my age is great...but is it compounding the condition? I don't want to be dictated to by it, so don't want to cut my hair. Any suggestions my friends ?

Hi thestonequo

I've had scalp psoriasis off & on for years & had both long hair & a very short pixie crop. I don't think the length of hair makes any difference apart from the fact that psoriasis can sometimes be more visible with shorter hair. Have you tried using a medicated shampoo such as T-gel & leaving it on the scalp for longer than you would with regular shampoo?

At the moment I'm using Jason Tea Tree Shampoo & Diprosalic.

In the past tried Polytar, Polytar Plus, Alphosyl & Betnovate. Those are the ones I can recall.

I'm cutting my hair tomorrow before I pull it out. Whilst it may not directly affect the condition, it makes it more difficult to treat.  And I'm being driven to distraction.

Regards

Jon
