Hi, is anybody taking methotrexate for their symptoms of arthritis and psoriasis? If so, does it work?

I've been taking it since April 2015 and my symptoms have dramatically improved. My skin is almost clear of psoriasis and my joints are less painful.

Yes I am prescribed Methotrexate. I used to do the injections but now in pill form. Before taking Enbrel I was on only Methotrexate and I found that it worked to a point but leveled off. I was then ok'd for Enbrel injections. if you can get accepted for it I swear by the Enbrel

Hi,

Thanks for your replies. I have been on Methotrexate for six months. Firstly on 3 a week and am now on five a week, but the peeling under my one foot does not stop. I am now sleeping with plastic around that foot. But it just won't go away. I do smoke...do you think that would make it worse? I also need a decent cream ....any suggestions?

I'm prescribed Fucibet for hands and feet as it has antibiotic into it, I use this yo start the process off then when it becomes milder I use Dovobet.

I started it off with Mtx and was on it for a while I was taking eight tablets a week towards the end but my liver couldn't take it at the juncture. I am now on Leflunomide and enbrel. However Mtx made my skin clear up really well, now I only Ps on my hands and feet when I'm come off steroid injections.

Hello my name is Angie! I've been taking Methotrexate for over a year now. I felt like it wasn't really helping so six months ago the doctor put me on sulfasalazine to take along side it. It helps some days but they are talking about maybe me injecting myself with the methotrexate next time I see my Rhuematology doctor.

The day you take the methotrexate you might feel 'foggy' & very sleepy - I take mine on a Saturday morning and by the afternoon I'm exhausted but you MUST listen to your body & rest then on Sunday I start to feel a bit better!

I hope this helps?

Take care & gentle hugs x

I have been taking it for years. It works because when I try to reduce or go off it I have a flair up . I also take Humira every 2 weeks. It cleared up the psoriasis in a few months. I am having a flair up right now because we tried to reduce the metho. I am now back up to 1 ml.

Hello, I have been using this method for my psoriasis for two months already. I have complete following of my dermatologist. She says that there are people who get on really well with this method, and there are people who have so much symptoms, but since I have been using for such a small period of time, she says it's going fine but will continue to check, do routine blood exams. Hope that this has helped.

Yes I have been on it for a year now and 6 months ago my dose of MTX was up to 10 tablets weekly as I was still having flare ups, one joint in particular was so bad ( middle finger, right hand) I received 2 shots of cortisone in that finger. I believe it's better with it and scared to see what happens if I stopped taking as the bi-monthly blood test show if it is doing harm to your body. Results started for me in about 6 weeks after taking it even with a low dose.

I did took Methotreate injection it did help clear up my Psoriasis but when the injection was stopped the Psoriasis came back worst than ever before. Maybe for different people effect would be different. Some might have a good effect but for me I don't think I would want to have it again.
