Hi

Yrs it reminds me of how i felt when i was pregnant after eating. I struggle to eat to be honest and very rarely have an appetite. I should be stick thin but sadly not due to steroid and various other meds! No anti sickness drug has helped me at all. S sadly its another symptom i put up with. Iong for that feeling of enjoying a meal i cant remember the last time.

Hello,

I really feel for both of you because I also live with chronic nausea. It can be so severe that it becomes debilitating and can keep me in bed for hours or even days at a time. I don't have any known specific trigger for the nausea, as I have tried to pin point a direct cause-- but I've had this now for about four years-- it began even before I started any meds for the Behcet's, and still occurs even if I haven't taken any pain meds. I do know that if my stomach is already unsettled, then eating just makes it much worse, no matter what food it is.

Another problem for me is that I often have low-cortisol levels because of another rare autoimmune disease I have. The most common symptom of low cortisol is nausea-- so I never know for sure which disease its from. Usually if none of the anti-emetics help settle things, then it means that I need more steroid-- but I usually end up vomiting uncontrollably if it is my cortisol, where as with my everday chronic nausea, I don't usually end up vomiting with it.

Sometimes when I'm not doing too bad, then I notice the nausea isn't bad either or at least the meds will help with it completely. But I've pretty much been in one big flare for the last four years, so I don't get a break that often. I take a daily morning dose of "kytril" which is a strong prescription anti-nauseant that was created for chemotherapy-induced nausea. I often still get "break through" nausea so I still have to take a lot of Gravol/dimenhdydrinate throughout the day. These types of meds are pretty safe and usually don't cause bad side effects, except the gravol can make you a bit drowsy-- I usually get bad side effects from meds and often they will upset my emotional and cognitive state, so I understand your hesitancy to start taking anything for the nausea-- but these two meds haven't caused me any problems-- Benadryl/dipenhyradmine on the other hand is a whole other story-- let's just say I'm not allowed near that stuff anymore because it turned me into a narcotic monster!

Another thing-- since you mentioned that you seem to get nauseous after eating-- I wonder if you have some kind of food sensitivity because of the Behcet's-- I think these are becoming more common and I've noticed many people making posts and asking questions about sensitivities lately. Like for example- have you been checked for Celiac? Just a thought anyways.

I hope that you can find some relief soon. There are also different things you could try that are more natural if you prefer that route-- like ginger helps aide nausea and digestive problems and I think peppermint tea can also help soothe upset stomach. I have tried ginger tea and the natural gravol with ginger, but neither has worked for me and epsecially the tea made me feel even sicker-- but what works for one person doesn't always work for another.

Take care :)

I suffer from awful nausea but have bowel problems along with the bechets, crohns and coeliac disease, do you suffer from any other symptoms like bloating, diarrhoea etc? Might be worth asking your gp about a coeliac blood test as sadly these auto immune diseases don't always come alone, some of the things that ease it a little for me is making sure your hydrated and I take cyclizine it takes the edge off it, defiantly ask your Dr as nausea is awful xx
