Hi All, I've had a few Covid-19 infections, and subsequently have long covid/post covid syndrome. And it's made it quite difficult for me to decipher what exactly is my Behcet's flares and what is long covid related.
I wondered if anyone else with Behcet's could share the impact (if any) of having Covid-19 infections has had on their Behcet's symptoms, including if you went on to have long covid/post covid syndrome.
TIA x

I have only recently been diagnosed with behcets but I have had Covid three times and each time I have been completely knocked out for 2 weeks and it usually takes 1-2 months to recover to normal. The exhaustion is worst for me. I would like to say that any bug knocks me for six but I guess because I test for covid that I’m more aware of it. People have heard of long covid but never behcets! 😄
Hi CuteCats, I have Covid again right now for the 2nd time. I got anti virals both times and I can't imagine how much worse it would have been without them. I know what you mean with the overlapping symptoms, fatigue for example, joint pain and gastric issues.
I felt permanently damaged after the first bout of covid, I lost all my exercise tolerance and started getting short of breath for hours at a time, with tachycardia as well. For about 6 months after infection. I had an echo and they found a small amount of fluid around my heart but said it didn't signify anything. I'm sure it was long covid/ post covid syndrome. It's slowly gotten better on its own over 2 years, but now with covid again I'm hoping it doesn't relapse.
Having to pause medication while you're sick can cause a flare up too. Or it doesn't work as effectively while your body is busy fighting the virus. My eye inflammation got much worse after the first bout of rona, I'm hoping it hasn't damaged it further this time. I hope all of us make a full recovery! It really sucks that we're already trying to get on top of this horrible disease and then having covid on top of it. There is so little information on how to manage long covid either. My advice is listen to your body, and don't push yourself, rest and sleep as much as you need to.
