Hi firstly you don't give your age as it can be that. I honestly had an amazing memory until about 20 years ago when I'd have lapses infrequently but of late it's more often and even worse. Is it part of BD, or the meds, or just our bodies and minds going into the next stage of life?? If you are really worried you should mention it to your GP and take it from there. I did have a brain scan about 5 years ago as both my parents had dementia, but thankfully all was well. I was advised to cut down and back from some of the meds I was on at the time and it seemed to work. Now I'm on more drugs again for another health problem and memory is drifting..lol.
Hope this helps, don't keep this to yourself tell somebody and tell the docs.
Hi, I'm 44 and have found that every time I have a bad flare of BD my memory becomes pretty bad. It can be very distressing especially when you can't remember where you parked the car etc. I have found that if I sit quietly for a few minutes and try to calm myself I can usually remember what I was doing or was going to do. I'm never sure if it is the medication or the disease, you can always keep notes, lists, but in saying that sometimes I cant't remember where I have put them (ha, ha)
I also have memory issues. Mine cannot be explained by meds, as this condition predates meds by many years. It cannot be explained by age either. Work is a real challenge. Those around me at work can easily see this and give gentle reminders about tasks and such. Some do not have such kind views though.
No worries...my husband told me the other day that I'm "not as sharp as I used to be". I wanted to die. So I'm looking at reading more, etc....scared to end up like people I took care of as a nurse. I've had episodes of total blankness before,ex: being in traffic and not knowing where I was for 2 min. That was by far the worst, but I get the foggies and forgetful yes
