Hi Roxybaby I'm the same as you in every thing you say but I've had me second refused and now filling in a form WellCare rights sent me I have not heard of anyone getting this yet .

roxybaby have you asked for your report that they did at ATOS ask for a copy because with mine there was things missing and that is what I am fighting for, plus welfare rights sent me some note on how to claim ESA if you need any of the form numbers let me know good luck.

I don't understand why when we all got DLA in the past that PIP is so hard to get. What on earth do they do to you at Atos. I am so bad I am in a wheelchair and need care done by my poor hubby?

I got a call for an ATOS interview but had to fill in the form first and submit it. I did this and asked my GP if he would write a letter explaining my condition and symptoms. I was surprised when he went to great lengths to not only explain my condition but tell them in no uncertain terms I am not able to work. They wrote back and said I didn't need an interview. I was then contacted by the job centre and given all the info that I needed to have an interview with them in order to get PIP. I was put into the category of having to find work or seek some sort of employment. I went to the job centre for my interview. The guy was horrified and said this was a joke. He said you can't work after he took one look at me and we spoke. He said I have the right to appeal and it is me that should do this. However he was so shocked he did it for me by email there and then. It still has a shelf life it doesn't mean I will recieve this forever and will no doubt have to aither attend an assesment in the future at some point or be called again. Its a harrowing experience and frankly we don't need the stress and worry this brings. The stress I believe just makes our condition worse. Whilst there will always be people flouting the system and trying to get money for nothing, there are so many of us that truly deserve help and should not be made to feel a fraud or a scrounger along the way. No person in their right mind wants to be ill or disabled and I for one would love give anything to be just half the person I once was. The luxury of having no pain, the ability to work and earn, to feel independent, to contribute, to just have any of these things that so many take for granted would be like winning the lottery for me.

Bath (BA); Blackpool (FY); Bromley (BR); Bournemouth (BH); Bristol (BS); Cambridge (CB); Canterbury (CT); Cardiff (CF); Chelmsford (CM); Crewe (CW); Dartford (DA); Dorchester (DT); Durham (DH); Gloucester (GL); Halifax (HX); Huddersfield (HD); Lancaster (LA); Luton (LU); Plymouth (PL); Portsmouth (PO); Reading (RG); Romford (RM); Salisbury (SP); Southend on Sea (SS); Southampton (SO); Stockport (SK); Taunton (TA); Torquay (TQ); and Truro (TR).

gov.uk/government/public......

Its really important for both PIP and ESA its not what the actual illness is

but how it affects you on a Daily Basis.

what I would strongly urge with both PIP and ESA

1. always make sure you add as much information as possible NEVER just fill the form in. the Questions fill the box in but then refer them to written A4 you also include that allows much more detail.

2. we know when the Behcets affects certain areas it can be very embarrassing but

please trust me this is no time to feel like that. If Graphic Detail is needed please don't feel uneasy.

but also if you put down owing to mouth ulcers this causes severe problems with eating/drinking especially when they are in the throat. They will just assume its a bog standard ulcer they wont realise how big painful on longlasting they can be so make sure detail is there fully so they understand just how serious they can be.

The same with Genital ulcers. Also Joint problems I cant stress this enough you need to make sure you give as much detail how this impacts on daily life.

the same with the Malaise/weakness/extreme fatigue/pain.

Also this if often overlooked how certain drugs that you need to take also impact

ontop of the symptoms you get with Behcets.

3. Its vital to get support from GP and Consultant. Be sure they are fully aware of everything. having a letter just saying "this person has Behcets" in all honesty isn't worth having. This isn't about strong arming or asking them to basically lie about you.

Its just shocking that instead of using the plethora of information they already have

you need to not only go through the stress of new process but its asking already hard working medics to basically repeat themselves over and over.

** its also worth pointing out under PIP medical letters that are older than 3 years will not be accepted.***

4.

That's why you see these stories of people with Cancer etc being thrown off everything because the illness isn't the main focus anymore its how the illness affects the person.

I hope this information helps.
