Dear James,

Can you tell us the name of the emergency contraceptive pill your partner took for 2 days in a row?

It is not very dangerous, but it's not a good idea either because the amount of hormone in the pill is higher than in a daily oral contraceptive pill.

I suggest you wear condoms for sex from now until your partner can attend a family planning or sexual health clinic to start hormonal contraception.

A pack of condoms is a lot cheaper than buying emergency contraception pills!

She has not taken it yet and it' was plan B step one I was trying to find out first before anything ok but can you use a single pill for two days ;like today she takes the pill then tomorrow she doesn't take. How effective is it

Sorry, I misunderstood what you were asking. So you're suggesting that she takes a "morning after" pill on alternate days for contraception??!

It's not meant to be used in that way and could be harmful to her health.

If she lives in the UK and really can't see her GP or a sexual health/family planning clinic to start oral contraception, a more sensible option would be to ask her to get a prescription of contraceptive pills from any number of reputable online pharmacies, e.g. Boots, Superdrug, Simple Online Pharmacy, HealthExpress, LloydsPharmacy etc. She'll need to go through a simple health assessment before the contraceptive pill is prescribed, which will not take too long. It will certainly be safer than taking morning after pills every other day! A three-month supply of a popular daily mini pill (Cerazette, desogestrel) is less than GBP 20.
