Combined pill

Hi, started taking the combined pill on the fifth day of my period. Wondering how long to take before protected for sex and when finishing the 21 days how long before the bleed will come?

You will be protected from the day you take the pill but have to let your periods finish. If your periods are on there normal cycle then they should continue the same once you finish the pill after 3 weeks. My friend is on the pill and her cycle isn't normal and hasn't been since she was on the implant. If It does change you periods could start 3/2 days before your due to start the pill again but you still take the pill when your due to

I believe you have to take the pill between days one and five of your period to be protected against pregnancy immediately. When you have your seven day break it usually takes about three days for your withdrawal bleed to start but everyone is different.
