My first time taking the combined pill

I’m quite young and started the combined pill on Tuesday. My period started the day before I went to the doctors to get the pill however it was very light and I came on in the late afternoon. Was it supposed to stop my period because I’m still bleeding after taking the pill for 6 days including the Tuesday , the day I started it , I’m just a little worried it’s not working properly . Also I’ve been feeling quite sick and had a headache all day yesterday . Also I started the pill on a Tuesday so When I finish my first packet should I take the Monday pill I missed out that Monday ? I’d appreciate it if anybody Could tell me a little more info about what’s going on ? X thanks

You will bleed the normal amount of time when you first take it if you take it the day your period starts. Take the pill everyday at the same time everyday till the pill pack is finished so that will mean your last pill will be on a Monday as you started taking it on a Tuesday so yes you take that pill you missed on the Monday but that will be your last pill in the blister pack. You then have a 7 day break which will mean you have a period type bleed (mine normaly starts on a Thursday/Friday in my pill free week my last pill is on a Sunday but everyone’s body’s are different so yours might start earlier after your last pill). With headaches and feeling sick, I would personally try and finish this blister pack and see if your body gets use to it. I tried two different pills before finding the one that works for me. I had headaches with the other pills but I kept on them for a month or two just to see if my body got use to them. If your headache and sickness doesn’t go, go back to the doctor they will try you on a different pill, everyone’s body’s are different so a different one might suit your body better as they all have a slightly different strength of hormones I think.
