I just wanted to say hello and share a photo of my gorgeous boy Fabian whoโs recently just turned 1. I canโt believe how quick this year has gone despite being in lockdown. He is so happy, funny, clever, cheeky and healthy. Heโs such a character. So so lucky.
For those of you that have or are trying for a second with ivf, how long did you wait after having your first? X

Oh wow isnโt he gorgeous!! My first born (ivf icsi) turns 2 in May and I have an 8 week old natural miracle in my arms! Crazy crazy! Obviously so blessed. Two under two is crazy busy but loving it still. We have one embryo in the freezer we canโt bare the thought of discarding so we will try for a third when both boys are at school. That way the newborn days can be soaked up for 6 hours a day!
Your boy is gorgeous, good luck trying for number two. Xxx
Thank you! Awwww congrats on both your boys!!! Amazing you had a natural conception too!! Good idea waiting on the boys starting school to try again (unless it happens unexpectedly again of course) xxx
Awww thank you xxx July hey! Hopefully things will be relatively normal by then and you wonโt spend your maternity in lockdown?! Congratulations on your pregnancy x
They seem to be coming along fine!! We had a scan just over a week ago and they are apparently measuring 2.81lbs & 2.86lbs. I feel like a house end but doing ok!๐คฃxx
Thatโs incredibly great news that theyโre the same size as Iโm sure you know xxxx but yes youโre already carrying a newborn in weight! Although a lot more with everything else that goes with each baby. Hope youโre sleeping ok and not too uncomfortable- when are you due? X
Yes, I honestly cant quite believe it!๐คช My weight gain has slowed down thank god, I havent put on that much now. I've started to wake up around 3am and my feet as so hot when sleeping so getting a bit of insomnia but I'm sure that's just gonna prepare me for when they're here and getting zero sleep! I've got 7 wks until they have to be here as they wont let me go past 37wks. My blood pressure was slightly raised on last check so they're keeping an eye on me juat in case. I'm sure once I have my next scan in 3 wks I'll get given a date....eeeek!xxx
He's lovely, my own little lady turns 1 in 2 weeks time, I followed your journey while I was going through mine. Isn't it crazy how quickly time goes๐ฑ even during lockdown! We still look at her and can't believe how lucky we are a d that she is real.
If I had any frosties I'd be going again now as I couldn't bear to discard an embryo. But she was our last one.
We have decided not to have another. Life is good, she's healthy, we are healthy we want to just enjoy her and look to the future without all the heartache and stress of ivf that has odds against us.
Thank you x whatโs your little lady called? Sheโs gorgeous!!!! I still canโt believe heโs here either. I still often get tears in my eyes when we have magic moments. Donโt think Iโll ever quite believe it!
I have 3 embryos left so feel very fortunate but it took 8 embryos to get Fabian so Iโm not sure if we will get so lucky again...I totally get that youโre not going to go through it all again. I wouldnโt either if I didnโt have Frosties and if these donโt work we wonโt go again. 41 this year too.
Having one child makes us extremely lucky compared to so many who never get the chance. Itโs so heartbreaking.
She's called Heidi-Joy, we feel so blessed to have her. But if like you I had 3 embryos I'd totally transfer and I think I'd feel at peace with whatever the outcome. I think when you go through what we did you feel so grateful for it to have worked once you daren't feel you could ask for more. But you have 3 good chances for it to work again. You have done it now so you know Yr body can do again. Best of luck whatever you decide.
(I must update that pic, she was only about 6 months in that.)
What a gorgeous name! Sounds like a ray of sunshine. Iโm definitely going to transfer again but just undecided how soon to go - and going through it all over again! Like you say, when it works once, youโre so grateful and blessed. Xxx
I've got a 6 month old and we just went for the transfer last Monday! BFP wss Friday so November for #2 if all continues positively. We'll have our hands very full!
What a cutie! Our little boy is 18 months and weโve got a consultation at the end of the month to discuss timeline for FET ( we have one frostie). I wanted to wait till my period returned as we are still breastfeeding. It returned at 16 months. Weโve been trying naturally incase of a miracle! You just never know!! ๐คฃ๐๐
Thank you!!! 18 months ๐ฅฐ love that age! Good luck with your frostie, fingers crossed! My period started after 10 months. Iโm still breastfeeding too. A nurse in an email from my clinic said I would need to stop breastfeeding when I asked before going again BUT Iโve been doing research and discovered a breastfeeding and doing ivf Facebook group and there is sooo much evidence showing that you can breastfeed and do FETs and thereโs no need to stop at all! Even without a period! Some clinics support this and some women just donโt tell their clinic that theyโre breastfeeding. Good to know?! Fingers crossed you get a miracle though xxxx
Iโve found that group too! Iโm not planning on weaning to go ahead with treatment ๐Iโm a midwife and an infant feeding specialist so feel confident and informed in my decision. Good luck with it all xxxx
Oh wow! Thatโs fantastic that youโre an infant feeding specialist as well as a midwife! Iโm a community nursery nurse with health visiting and have done BFI training which has been so useful for work but also now personally too! Xxx
๐ฒ๐ฅฐ how did our little babies get so big so quickly?!? Happy Birthday Faby Baby, you gorgeous little fella.
I'm in the 2ww and Millie's 19 months next week. We'd have liked to transfer a couple of months ago but stuff kept getting in the way. It's still nerve wracking, even after a successful pregnancy xxx
Thank you! So crazy how the time flies isnโt it. Hope Millie is doing well, such a cute name! Good luck with your 2ww. I think youโll have a perfect age gap if this is the one ๐๐๐๐๐ keep us updated!!! X
Your post made my night last night. Fabian is an absolute beauty of a boy! ๐ Happy 1st birthday to him and congratulations to you!! ๐๐ฅณ๐
Iโll send you a pic of our little munchkin who is now 6 months old. We have 4 frosties and I am thinking about trying an FET from May as Iโd like them 18-24 months apart if possible. Like you I donโt know if we will be blessed again but hereโs hoping! ๐๐ฝ
Do your periods need to have returned before you can do an FET?
Iโm not sure if periods need to have returned or not - I donโt think so as you can still ovulate without bleeding when your breastfeeding. If you join the Facebook group about breastfeeding during ivf you may find out lots more. So lovely to hear your baby is now 6 months old, congratulations!!! Excellent news you have 4 Frosties left!!!! Good luck with going again and a shame I canโt see a photo xxx
Happy birthday little man! He is ridiculously cute! ๐ฅฐ๐ฅฐ time goes so quickly when theyโre here.
My boy is almost 8 months old - I had an uncomplicated c section so have been told we can try again when heโs 1. We were going to get the ball rolling with a dr referral soon. Weโve got frosties luckily but will need to repeat some of the tests etc and my clinic (NHS but will be self funding) is notoriously slow! Iโve just had an abnormal smear though so am waiting to know whatโs going on with that, and am worried it will end up delaying things ๐คฆโโ๏ธ There is always something to delay things! Are you looking to try again then? How are you feeling about it? Xx
Oh no, thatโs an added level of stress you donโt need! Fingers crossed itโs under control and has been spotted. I know a few women who have had GD but with the sugars being controlled they were fine. Good luck. Must be difficult. Xxx
I had a planned section and only needed to stay in for one night. Recovery and pain was very manageable. I could get up and down the stairs by myself as soon as I got home and it wasnโt half as bad as I was expecting. I know not everyone has the same experience with a section but I hope yours is a positive experience too. It was super chilled on the big day. Loved knowing when it was going to all happen xxx
Hopefully the planned section will be much better, I've had two emergency sections my last one was really traumatic so its my PTSD creeping back in. They are very prepared this time though so hopefully that helps. Xx
